Shelton has twenty years of experience in Carpentry work. He lives in a village called Ipalogama in Anuradhapura district. It is a suitable area for carpentry because the village is situated in the dry zone, where quality timber is readily available. Shelton has a son and a daughter. Both are of school going age.
Shelton became a BMI member in the year of 2011. He obtained a loan of Rs. 25,000 to buy timber for his business. This enabled him to expand his work and produce quality wood products. Consequently, his income increased. Shelton took his second loan in the year of 2012 to purchase some necessary equipment for his business. He is currently earning Rs. 35,000 a month.
Shelton wants to expand his carpentry business on a larger scale and provide employment opportunities to others in his village. He has applied for a new loan amount of Rs. 75,000 from BMI.
