About P. Rajakaruna

Premalatha is a new BMI client who has started a tea restaurant during the last two months. She is from a village in the Anuradhapura District. Premalatha is 31 years old and unmarried. She lives with her parents and older sister, who all work on a vegetable cultivation. Premalatha has recognized the need for a tea shop due to the demand in the locality. She is very enthusiastic about this venture and hopes to improve the shop further. She also would like to provide her clientele with additional consumer items with the improvement work. At present she earns an income of approximately LKR 12,500/- per month. But in the future she is confident she can increase this amount with the value addition and food that she intends to make available at her tea-stop shop. For this purpose she has applied for her first loan from BMI amounting to LKR 30,000/-. She sees herself becoming a very successful business woman in the future through this new venture.
