Ramyalatha is an existing BMI client from a rural village called Vijithapura in Wallewewegama in the Anuradhapura District. Ramyalatha took her first BMI loan in July 2012 amounting to LKR 30,000/-. Ramyalatha is engaged in manufacturing food items for sale since 2009. She has been successful in this endeavor and earns on average a monthly income of LKR 15,000/-.
Ramyalatha has now requested for her second loan amounting to LKR 50,000/- for the purpose of purchasing the required raw materials and other packaging material for her business. She is unable to fund this herself as she has no reserve. With this investment she hopes to increase the output and hence her income.
She intends to start a reserve with the improvement of her business. She is unmarried and lives with her parents who work in the fields. Her earning is the main source of income for this family of three. She aspires to become a large retailer of food items in the village as well as in the townships and increase the output as well as improve the quality of the product. Ramyalatha is only one taking care of her parents and she hopes to be able to start saving for her parents’ old age as well as for her own future.
