Kumara is from a village called Senapura in Ippalogama in the Anuradhapura District. Kumara is an existing BMI client involved in managing a grocery shop. Kumara has been engaged in this business since 2010. At the inception of the business in 2011, Kumara approached BMI for his first loan of LKR 25,000/-.
Kumara has now applied for his second loan amounting to LKR 50,000/- for the purpose of development of the business. He intends to make investments and purchase items which are necessary for the improvement of the service he can provide to his clientele.
Kumara has been successful in his endeavor and earns a monthly income of approximately LKR 30,000/-. However, this is the sole income for the family. Kumara is married and his wife helps him with the selling in the shop. He also has a son, who is below 18 years, however has dropped out of school and works part time as a driver.
Kumara is very keen to see his business develop so as to earn enough money to save a part of it and also to uplift the living conditions of his wife and son. His main concern is to ensure that his son gets a higher education of any sort, so that his future will be a positive one.
