Mallika is an existing client of BMI. She and her husband lives in a small village called Kalledimulwewa in the Anuradhapura District. Mallika is engaged in the manufacture of floor rugs for the past 3years. She earns an income of LKR 12,000/- per month at present. She is 40 years old and has two children, a son who has just recently joined the army and a daughter who is sitting for her Advanced Level examination shortly. Her husband is unemployed and her income of LKR 12,000/- is this family’s sole income.
Mallika has already taken her first loan from BMI in 2012 amounting to LKR 25,000/- which she has completely settled, and now she has requested for her second loan of LKR 40,000/- for the development of the business further. With this money she intends to purchase the raw materials necessary for the manufacture process. She hopes to increase her output of rugs to the shops near and far and increase the earnings and profit from the business.
She is a determined woman and takes care of her family and runs her business very efficiently. She aspires to become a well- known business-woman and build up a savings for the future of her family.
