Siriyalatha is from a rural village called Thalapitiya in the NuwaraEliya District. Siriyalatha is a new BMI client and has applied for a loan of LKR 30,000/- for the purpose of developing her grocery store. She has been involved in this business for over 5 years. The shop is still run at a low level and Siriyalatha earns about LKR 12,000/- per month at the present level of operations. She is 47 years old and has four children one of whom is out of school but unemployed and lives with her and her husband who is also a merchant. However, Siriyalatha and her husband find it very difficult to make ends meet and manage their family of six. As such Siriyalatha has decided to improve the grocery store and make available more goods for her clients. She intends to use the money from the loan for this purpose. She very motivated and committed and wants to ensure that she can make the grocery store a steady income earner for her family. She hopeful that with the assistance of BMI she will be achieve her goals for improving her business.
