Nimesha is an existing BMI client from the Anuradhapura District, engaged in the tailoring industry. She has around 2 years’ experience in the field. She is married and lives with her husband and schooling child.
She first joined BMI in 2012 and had taken her first loan of LKR 30,000/- She used the loan money to purchase the clothing materials and threads for the business.
In the past 2 years she has become well known for her clothing and tailoring. At present she is fairly successful earning an income of around LKR20,000/- per month. Currently she is interested in diversifying her products and making availablea high quality product so as to sell at a higher premium price and increase her profit margins. She has now applied for her second loan of LKR 50,000/- from BMI to facilitate the purchase of a new sewing machine with more features.
Her husband works in a farm and earns a minimum wage as such her business is the major income source for their family and covers most of the household expenses as well.
She envisages a business on a much larger scale in the future and she hopes to provide employment opportunities for girls in her village. Her ultimate ambition is to own a sustainable business with a good income.
