Harsha is a BMI client engaged in tailoring. She has around 5 years of experience in the particular field. She’s unmarried and lives with her sister in Dehiovita area in Kegalle district.
Harsha first joined BMI in 2009 and taken her first loan of LKR 25,000. She used the loan money to purchase the clothing materials and threads for the business.
At present she is fairly successful and earns an income around LKR 25,000 per month. Now she wants to diversify her products more and obtain high quality materials also to make the dresses to sell at a higher price. To finance this activity she received her second loan of LKR 40,000 from BMI. Since her business shows a better growth, she decided spread her products into other areas too. So, she applied for the third loan Rs. 50,000 from BMI to fulfill her financial needs, such as transportation.
Her business is a major income source of their small family and covers most of the household expenses too. Thus, this business is very much important to Harsha. Since they have no others to take care of them as they grow old, she wishes to have a substantial savings for their future use. She is also willing to provide one or two employment opportunities for few village girls as well. Her ultimate ambition is to own a sustainable business with a good income and live life without being burden to anyone.
