Risana is a new BMI client from the Serunuwara area in the Trincomalee district where she lives with her family. Her family was entirely reliant on her husband’s income, therefore she began making and mending clothes for villagers in the area in her spare time.
Now, having seen the benefits of Microfinance by attending cluster meetings, she wishes to invest in her business and has applied for a loan of Rs 30,000. With these funds she intends to purchase a sewing machine, which will enable her to rapidly increase the number of clothes she can produce and mend. She knows this timely investment will enable her to increase the profitability of her tailoring business.
