Arunthavam is a motor mechanic. She works in her own shop. In 2013 she joined BMI to make improvements to her workshop.
Arunthavam’s home place is Serunuwara, a rural village situated in Trincomalee District. In her area, most people have motorcycles to fulfill their daily key transport needs. So, Arunthavam decided to work in this field. As her first step, she took a loan of Rs. 25,000 from BMI and bought new equipment for her Workshop. She being a very good examples for other women who think this is men works. Now she is earning Rs. 150,380 per year.
Arunthavam has a family with eight characters. They are her husband, four sons and two daughters. Her husband(in picture) also assisting her vehicle garage. She tries making more revolution among the women who are framed by the culture and thinking these tasks impossible. She is willing to make her workshop wider by adding more equipment. So, Arunthavam applied for new Loan of Rs. 50,000 from BMI.
