Indrani lives with her husband and school going children in Galigamuwa in the Kegalle region. In order to supplement their average monthly income of Rs 30,000, she started up a poultry business.
A previous BMI client, Indrani took out a loan of Rs 25,000 in May 2010 in order to buy chickens and feed for her chickens. In October 2011 she took out a further loan of Rs 50,000 in order to improve the quantity and quality of the feed. After several years of experience running the business, Indrani is very pleased with the recent improvements to her business since investing in it. Therefore, she has applied for a loan of Rs 75,000 with which to improve the business further, a timely investment to enable her to increase the profitability of her business and therefore her family's monthly income.
