P.A.K. Premaratne is a fisherman from the Kahatagasdigiliya region in the North Central Province in Sri Lanka. For the past three years he has been running a successful fishing business which sees a monthly income of Rs. 38,000/-. However, due to the rising cost of living he has found it difficult to cope with the rising demand.
Through the assistance of a BMI loan, valued at Rs. 30,000/-, Premaratne hopes to purchase new material that he can use to expand his existing fishing industry. He also plans on expanding the business so that he may one day purchase a larger boat that will allow him to venture further out to sea.
