Ekanayeka operates a hair salon in the Kahatagasdigiliya region in the North Central Province in Sri Lanka.
For the past 10 years she and her husband have developed the venture in to a thriving business that caters to her local community. In 2012 she applied for a BMI loan valued at Rs. 30,000/- to improve her salon, the improvements paid dividends with her increasing her earning capabilities.
Now with a rising cost of living she has requested another BMI loan, at the value of Rs. 50,000/- to further improve her salon and hire more staff. The growing demand for her business has forced her to hire an assistant.
