T. Dhanawathi lives in a village in Ipolagama in Anuradhapura with her mother and sister.
For the past two years she has been operating a poultry farm that sees her earn an estimated Rs. 40,000/- a month. She works on the farm along with her sister. Their mother is retired and so is financially dependent on them. She first obtained a BMI loan in 2012 for Rs. 25,000/- to buy new poultry stocks.
She now has applied for a second BMI loan of Rs. 50,000/- that she wants to use to further increase the size of her stocks and thereby increase her output.
