A resident of Ipalogama area in the Anuradhapura district and an active BMI client, R. M. Sunithra is married to Disanayake and they have one son and a daughter. Her husband is involved in cultivation. In her free time, Sunitha commenced a business of buying and selling sarees to village people. To further develop her business, she took out a BMI business loan of Rs. 25,000 in October 2011 and invested the loan to buy more sarees in bulk quantity. Having regular customers from her village and surrounding villages, Sunitha now makes an average monthly income of Rs. 8,000. Sunithra wants to further improve her business by selling new designs which attract the young and old. She applied for her second BMI business loan of Rs. 50,000 and waits for approval. This timely investment move will enable her to increase the profitability of her business in coming months.
