About Disna Kumari Herath

Galigamuwa resident Disna Kumari is happily married to S. D. R. Perera who is a driver and the couple have two daughters. Disna started to get involved in perfume production at her home. Starting on a small scale, the business gathered momentum and Disna developed a regular customer base. She became a BMI cluster member in November 2010 and went for her first business loan of Rs. 25,000. She invested this amount in her new venture. This helped her to increase production and she started to earn a good income. This channeled her to her second BMI loan of Rs. 50,000 in February 2011 after completion of her first loan. This also she invested in her business activities. As her monthly income is approximately Rs. 38,000 at present, Disna is hoping to go for her third BMI business loan of Rs. 75,000 to invest the amount in expanding her business activity. She knows this timely investment is going to bring her more profit and she hopes to give employment opportunities to village youth in future.
