Pushpakumari is a BMI client from Ballapana area in Kegalle district. She owns a small boutique where she sells fruits. She became a BMI member in 2011 and obtained her first loan of LKR 25,000 from BMI. She used the money to purchase and transport fruits in bulk.
After settling the first loan to BMI, she went for the second loan of LKR 50,000 and invested that also to her trade. The business was gaining success and she wanted more items to cater the demand. At present, Pushpakumari’s monthly income stands at an average of Rs. 25,000. Now she is planning to obtain her third loan from BMI to further expand her shop and increase the volume of fruits she sells.
Pushpakumari’s husband is a mason and they have a 3 year old daughter. Since the husband’s income is not regular and not sufficient, Pushpakumari is eager to develop her business. She hopes that with the help of BMI she can achieve that. She hopes to be a successful entrepreneur in the area and create a good future for her daughter.
