Samaraweera is an experienced carpenter form Weragoda area in Galigamuwa. He joined BMI in 2011 and obtained a loan of LKR 25,000. He used this money to purchase the required timber and renovate his timber mill. He was working as a carpenter for around 9 years and has proven skills in timber work.
Samaraweera lives in Weragoda area in Kegalle district with his wife and daughter. His daughter is studying in grade five. His wife is also engaged in a small domestic level self employment activity. It is very essential that they both employ in something since the living cost is high for them. However, their main income source is their timber mill and the average monthly income from it is around LKR 25,000.
Now Samaraweera is planning to develop his timber mill and increase the production capacity. To finance this he has applied for his second loan of LKR 50,000 from BMI. He hopes to use the loan money to purchase a new machinery item for his workshop. Due to his experience he is very confident in this business. He reckons that if he works hard he can develop this business in to a sustainable one and generate good income. He wish to earn a good money from the business to uplift the level of living of his family.
