Anushka first joined BMI in 2010 April obtaining his first loan of LKR 25,000. His business is broiler chicken farming and he used the loan money to purchase the birds and bird feed. He had started this business about five years ago as a supplying agent to a large company.
The business started to grow and he wanted to expand the business to increase production. So that, he took his second loan of LKR 50,000 again to invest in his business. This time he used the money to buy more birds and supplements to them. Now he earns around 40,000 per month from the business.
At present Anushka’s business is doing well and there is a good demand for his products. Thus, now he is hoping to expand the farm by getting a larger flock of birds around 2000. To finance this initiative, he has now applied for a third loan from BMI of LKR 75,000. He hopes to use the money mainly to construct proper housing for the birds and to purchase the birds.
