Thanfeesa is small entrepreneur from Galigamuwa area in Kegall district. She is engaged in handicraft business, where she makes fabric purses, hand bags and travelling bags. She is very well experienced in this business and has around 15 years of experience in it. Her average income from the business is around LKR 20,500.
In 2011 September Thanfeesa took her first loan of LKR 25,000 from BMI. She had used this money to purchase new fabric materials for her business. Since there is a good market potential for her business and the current income can be increased, she is now planning to increase her production more. Therefore, she is now taking her second loan of LKR 50,000 to finance it. She plans to use the money to buy quality fabric materials and service her sewing machine.
Thaneefa’s husband is also engaged in cloth business and they have a one small daughter. Thaneefa wants to help her husband with some additional income so that they can improve their living conditions. She believes that this business would earn her a higher and a steadier income gradually. She also has lot of hopes for their small daughter and wants to create a successful future for her as well.
