Wijendran is a goat farmer from Atala area in Kegalle district. He has a small herd of goats and he has been doing this business for three years. In 2011 November, Wijendran took his first loan of LKR 25,000 from BMI for his goat farm. He used the money to purchase housing materials and feed for the animals.
At present he is successfully carrying out his business and earns around LKR 20,000 per month from it. Now he has applied for a second loan of LKR 50,000 from BMI for further development of his farm. He plans to use the money to renovate the goat house and buy few more goats.
Wijendran and his wife have only one child. He also takes care of his elderly father as well. His future plan is to develop a good goat herd and earn a higher income through selling milk and animals for rearing. He hopes that the income would help him to uplift the level of living in his family.
