About W.D. Dharmawathi Wijesinghe

Dharmawathi is a BMI client from the remote village called Bambaragama. She first joined BMI in 2011 March. She took a loan of LKR 25,000 for her dress making business. The loan was then used to buy the raw materials for the business. She has around four years of experience in dress making. Dharmawathi is a widow and thus, the bread winner of the family. She has one daughter who is still unemployed. Thus, Dharmawathi has to work hard to earn a good income to keep her family going. However, the business is fairly stable; she is hoping to increase the dress production now. Thus, she is now applying for a second loan of LKR 50,000 from BMI. She plans to use the money to buy more clothing materials and repair her sewing machine. Dharmawathi is an ambitious woman who wants to the bright side of life. She is determined to make her business a success and a source of a higher income. She has lot of hopes for her daughter and wants to create a good future for her. Thus, she wants to work hard and establish a good tailoring business in the area.
