Khutiya Bibi, sitting first from left in the group photo, has a small furniture shop. She wants to buy some equipment for her shop to make designs on the furniture, so she has applied for a micro-loan. She has five family members, including one son. She is quite ambitious for her child, who attends a nearby school. Her monthly income is Rs.3,000(USD 66). Samina Bibi, sitting second from the left, has a tailoring business. She has many customers, but she cannot meet their demands alone. She wants to buy two sewing machines and hire two people, so she has applied for a micro-loan. She has six family members, including two sons, and her monthly income is Rs.2,500(USD 55). Parigan Bibi is sitting first from the right. Shamsad Bibi, sitting second from the right, has a small hotel, which she runs with her husband. She wants to increase the size of hotel, so she has applied for a micro-loan. She has five family members, including one son and one daughter. Her monthly income is Rs.2,000(USD 44). These entrepreneurs are very dedicated and want to do well not only for themselves but also for their families. They understand the concept of a Joint Liability Group; if any member of the group is unable to repay their micro-loan, the other members will pay on the behalf of the member whose loan is delinquent. The entrepreneurs in the group support each other through joint liability.

She is now in a position to supply more chicken. This has helped her to boost her income and her income has increased from Rs.3000/- to Rs.4000/- per month. This increased income has helped her to improve the living condition of her house.
