About Kaushalya Danansuriya

Danansuriya is a young entrepreneur who owns a small brick making business in Thuntota area in Kegalle District. He had previously financed this business by obtaining his first loan of LKR 25,000 BMI in 2011 January. He has about seven years of experience in brick making and at present he and his father are engaged in it. They earn around LKR 25,000 per month by selling bricks. He has now applied for a second loan of LKR 50,000 for BMI. He wishes to use the loan money to obtain clay for brick making and firewood in bulk for the business. Danansuriya is still unmarried and lives with his father and sister in a partially completed house. They are in the photograph with the finished bricks. His sister is a nurse in the village hospital. He is a full of enthusiasm and positive attitude. He hopes to expand the business more and employ few fellow villagers also in his business, to cater the increasing demand. Through that, he wants to make the business sustainable and be a successful entrepreneur in the future.

Seelawathi Danansooriya is a resident of Galigamuwa and an active BMI client. She has involved herself in income generation activity by starting bricks production. Her first BMI loan was used to develop this activity. In 2013, Seelawathi went for her second BMI loan of Rs. 50,000 for further expansion of her business activity. Out of the total amount, she used 20,000 for labour charges to make a big furnace for the brick production and another Rs. 15,000 for firewood. Another Rs. 10,000 is used for coconut husks. With the new furnace and needed materials, she hopes to increase her production quantity.
