Anuradha is a 21 year old young lady who is involved in dairy business. She lives in a remote village called Kalutambihena in Anurhapura district with her husband and little son. Her husband is employed in Sri Lankan armed forces. Anuradha had started rearing a dairy cows in 2010. However, she heard about Berendina recently and joined BMI recently. She wishes to obtain a loan of LKR 30,000 to partially finance buying a new dairy cow. She had been in dairy business for two years approximately and confident that this business suits her best. She had been earning an average income of LKR 25,000. She hopes to gradually build up the business with the available resources and increase the current income that could support her family. She also wishes to build up own well, since at present they take water from their neighbors’ well. Her ambition is to develop a stable economy for the family and build up a good future for her son in the future.

Anuradha was finding it difficult to make ends meet with the income she earned through her dairy business. . She is a dairy farmer and with the ever increasing cost of living she wanted to increase her income for the family and for the business. Therefore, she approached the BMI Ipalogama branch and obtained her second loan to buy an additional dairy cow to expand her business. Through the assistance of this first loan from BMI, Anuradha was able to increase his milk production and increase her income. This increased income helped her to meet his family’s needs in a better manner She utilized the second BMI loan to increase the number of dairy cows in his business. Anuradha now earns a good income from his dairy business and is able to meet many of his family’s needs. Anuradha conveys her gratitude to BMI for standing by her during difficult times and for providing loans at reasonable rates to strengthen poor people like them.
