About Anil Wijewardena

Anil owns a small brick making business in Settikulama in Anuradhapura district. He had been engaged in this business for two years and obtained his first BMI loan of LKR 25,000 to finance the business in 2010. The loan money was used to buy clay that was needed to make bricks. Since the business was so far satisfactory and earned him around LKR 10,000 per month, he wishes to expand it further now. He is taking his second BMI loan of LKR 50,000 to build a permanent hut to store the final produce, rather than stacking them in open, which could increase the risk of damage to the processed (burnt) bricks. Apart from the brick making business, he is also engaged in farming, with the help of his wife. He uses his time to manage both, which is essential to maintain a stable income for his family. He has a small daughter and both of them are working hard to create a stable income for the family that would strengthen them enough to build a bright future for their little girl.
