Kumari is a successful BMI client from Dewalegama area, who had initially joined in 2010 February. She financed her business of Mosquito net making with a BMI loan of LKR 25,000 and further expanded it with another BMI loan of LKR 50,000 in 2011. The loan money was used to purchase the sewing material in bulk to produce more mosquito nets for the increasing demand. She sells the nets she sews for the villages individually as well as for shops in batches. The average monthly income of Kumari is around LKR 11,000.
Kumari has two daughters and a son who are still schooling. Her husband is working as a security officer for a private firm and they also takes care of the old parents of Kumari. Kumari’s mother also helps her in sewing when she has time.
At the moment Kumari is working all by herself but she wishes to expand her business in the future by purchasing few more machines. She hopes to employ few girls from the village to work with her, so that they also make some income. Her ultimate ambitions are on her children and she is working hard to make their future better and support her husband to make the future of the family successful.
