Mangalika is taking a LKR 30,000 business starting loan from BMI. She is taking this loan to expand her home gardening. She is intending to develop this as an additional income source for her family. She had also been to training programs on home gardening conducted by the Agrarian Service Institute of the area. At present her income is around LKR15,000.
Mangalika is a mother of two daughters and her youngest is still schooling. Mangalika’s husband serves as a cook, who works in freelance basis. Mangalika is also an active social worker in the village, where she holds a membership in the Death Benevolence society. Her main ambition is to give her younger daughter a good education and wishes to develop her home gardening in to a viable business in order to support her ambition.
