About Amitha Kalyani Bombuwalage

Amitha and her husband, with their two children live at Beligala in Kegalle District. Their main income is through the timber business. Amitha’s husband has worked in a timber mill owned by one of their relatives for few years and has initiated the business on their own 8 months ago. Initially, to start the business Amitha and her husband invested LKR 15,000 from their own savings. In addition, in 2010 Amitha joined BMI (Cluster VG/1/11) and obtained a loan of 25,000 LKR which was used to set-up the timber mill. The loan was repaid back in mid 2012. This is their second loan and the current loan (LKR 50,000) is being taken for buying timber. Amitha and her husband plan to buy a land saw to enhance the business, with the next cycle loan.
