Indika is an existing BMI client from a small village in the Ippologama area in the Anuradhapura District. In the past two years she has been engaged in cultivating bananas and has been quite successful. She earns a monthly average income of LKR 25,000/- on average and this is very satisfactory considering the short period of initiating the business.
Indika first took her BMI loan in 2012 amounting to LKR 25,000/-. She has now requested for another loan amounting to LKR 75,000/- for the purchase of new plants and fertilizer. She also needs funding for preparing the land and to pay for hired help.
Indika is 33 years of age, married and has two small schooling children. Her husband is employed in the Sri Lanka Navy. Indika’s income plays a major role in the family’s development and living standard. She hopes to become a successful entrepreneur and provide for her children a sound education and a better standard of living.
