Indrani(Husband is in this Picture) is an existing BMI client engaged in the cultivation of bananas in her village. She is from a small village known as Senapura in the Ippologama area in the Anuradhapura District. Indrani has a wealth of knowledge in this trade as she has been cultivating for the past four years. She has also managed the business well and at present earns an income of LKR 35,000/- per month on average.
Indrani obtained her first loan of LKR 25,000/- and her second loan of LKR 50,000/- in 2011 and 2012 respectively. She has been very prompt in her repayments over the years. Indrani has now applied for her third loan of LKR 75,000/-. These funds are intended to be utilized for the purchase of fertilizer and other necessary minerals for the soil, for labour to prepare the land for cultivation and to purchase new plants.
Indrani is 55 years of age, married and her husband is over 60 years of age and is in the civil service. They have two adult children who live in their care. She will be the main income earner in the near future as her husband will be retiring shortly.
As such she is determined to ensure that her business is successful and will be an on-going entity bringing in the necessary income for her family.
