Mallika is an existing BMI client from a small village in the Ippollogama area in the Anuradhapura District. She has been engaged in managing a small grocery shop for the past four years and has been fairly successful earning an average monthly income of LKR 30,000/-.
She obtained her first two loans of LKR 25,000/- and LKR 40,000/- in 2010 and 2012 respectively. She has since then come a long way in terms of growth in sales. Mallika is very motivated and driven to ensure the business grows further and has now requested for her third loan of LKR 75,000/-. With these funds she intends to purchase additional goods for the store as well as equipment needed. She hopes that she will be able to improve the premise also.
Mallika is 39 years of age, married and has two small sons who are schooling. Her husband is employed with the National Army. Mallika’s ambition is to make sure the shop is a success and to be able to save up for her family’s future. At present she is unable to neither infuse any money towards the business nor build a decent savings.
