About R. Sirilawathi

Sirilawathi is a dairy farmer. Sirilawathi and her family lives in Manupa in Anuradhpura District. Sirilawathi has a few cows and takes good care of them. This business is the main source of income for the family. She and her husband are doing this business in collaboration. They have two sons and a daughter. Their daughter is still schooling. One son has left school and is helping the mother in Dairy farming, while the other son is serving in the Navy. Sirilawathi’s husband collects grass for cows and Sirilawathi maintains the cattle shed. Sirilawathi joined with BMI in 2012 and received her first loan amount of Rs. 30,000. She used the loan to buy a new calf. Now, that calf has grown and they are able to obtain a good supply of milk from the calf. Sirilawathi’s current income is Rs. 12,000 per month. Now Sirilawathi applied for another loan amount of Rs. 50,000 from BMI. Her plan is to buy another new cow.
