Pushpa runs a small grocery shop in Manupa in Anuradhapura district. She has been running this shop for over one year. She lives with her husband, two sons and her mother. Husband is a laborer and he too helps his wife’s business from time to time. Pushpa has one schooling son. She and her husband are very keen on giving a good education for their children.
Pushpa became a BMI member in 2012 and she obtained her first loan in the same year. The loan amount she received is Rs. 30,000. She spent her loan amount to purchase another stock of groceries. Because she used the loan amount efficiently, her monthly income increased to Rs. 35,000.
Pushpa also sells food items and home needs in her shop. Now, Pushpa plans to increase the variety of goods in her store and increase her profit. So, she applied for another loan amount of Rs. 50,000 to buy more varieties of goods.
