About K. Thaneshwary

Thaneshwary lives in a village called Thambalagamam in Tricomalee district. It is situated in a coastal area of the island. Thaneshwary is engaged in a fish and rice flour business. It gives almost a good income for her family. Her husband is a fisherman and he hires fishing net from others and goes to sea for fishing. After her husband supplies the fish, Thaneshwary sells the fish at a local market. This livelihood is the family’s main source of income. Thaneshwary became a BMI member recently, with hope of getting a financial income to expand her fish business. She earns Rs. 25,000 a month and the family fulfills their needs through that amount. Since, Thaneshwary’s husband lacks good fishing nets, Thaneshwary plans to buy new fishing nets for her husband so that the family can increase their fish catch and improve their income.
